Youth Features Available to Newspapers

For the Kid in You is a fun newspaper feature for young readers. Each Kid package includes a feature story, an educational activity using the newspaper in the classroom, art and a game. Topics, subject matter and difficulty of activities vary so that teachers in grades K-12 can all benefit from this feature.

Newspapers looking for an individual youth feature or a series on specific topics can now purchase these through the Missouri Press Foudation. For the Kid in You features are available in downloadable PDF format in two sizes, quarter page (5 3/4 x 10 1/2) or four column (7 1/2 x 11). Pricing for this feature is based on circulation.

Newspapers that purchase four features in one order receive a fifth feature FREE!

If you have questions about purchasing For the Kid in You through Missouri Press, contact Kristie Williams at 573-449-4167.

For the Kid in You is created by Carolyn Estes and Faith Wylie at the Oologah (Oklahoma) Lake Leader. The Lake Leader is a community newspaper in Northwest Oklahoma that has for years been a model in how a small weekly can support a successful Newspaper in Education program. Since 1994, the Lake Leader has been creating For the Kid in You.

Shortly after the Kid was born, the newspaper began self-syndicating to other community newspapers.

Thanks to a special partnership, newspapers can purchase archived For the Kid in You features though the Missouri Press Foundation. If your newspaper would like to publish For the Kid in You each week, contact Estes at 918-443-24-28 or carolyn.estes@sbcglobal. Visit www.KidInYou.net for more information.
