MONUMENT
A Monument to the first newspaper in Missouri stands just north of Boonville on the outskirts of Old Franklin. Originally erected in 1919, it was destroyed in the famous Missouri River flood of 1993. Rebuilt next to the KATY railroad in 1997, it celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2007.
Sadly, Don Winningham, of Fayette, who designed the monument, passed away in 1997.
