Columbia Wine Festival To Feature 400 World-Class Wines

COLUMBIA, Mo. — You don't need to fly to Europe for Fettuccini Tartufate ai Funghi and a glass of perfectly paired Italian wine. Make the short drive instead to Columbia for Inside Columbia magazine's annual Wine & Food Festival (May 14–19, 2012). The six-day event features more than 400 world-class wines as it brings together the area's best chefs — and winemakers from around the world — for an experience that transcends the boundaries of "Collegetown, USA."

The week kicks off with Wine & Art, followed by three days of multicourse dinners. The festival culminates with weekend fun at The Grand Tasting and Sip & Stroll. Take advantage of both events with the Wine Lover's Weekend Package — a special pass for out-of-town guests that includes a keepsake Riedel glass and the opportunity to visit the city's chic boutiques, quiet cafés, soothing spas and trendy art galleries.

Friday evening's Grand Tasting features 200 wineries offering more than 400 internationally acclaimed wines (don't be shy — a shuttle will be on standby to get you safely back to your hotel!). Visit one-on-one with winery representatives, enjoy live music and sample food from local chefs.

Saturday's Sip & Stroll combines two of America's favorite pastimes — shopping and wine tasting. Explore 20 of Columbia's finest merchants as they offer wine samples and exclusive discounts — up to 50 percent off — and even free gifts for passport holders. Many locations will offer tapas and small plates prepared by local chefs.

Purchase tickets at ColumbiaWineFest.com, where you'll also find a detailed schedule of events, hotel recommendations, chef profiles and menus.
